A woman is speaking out about how her mother-in-law — who also happens to be a nurse — allegedly “ruined” the birth of her child and is now placing the blame on her.
In a candid Reddit post, the woman explains that her mother-in-law works part-time at the hospital where she delivered, but wasn’t scheduled that day. Despite not being on duty, word quickly reached the mother-in-law through a friend of her sister-in-law who spotted her at the facility.
Upon hearing the news, the mother-in-law reacted strongly. She immediately began texting both the woman and her husband, expressing outrage over not being informed about the labor.
“Then she said, ‘All of our family is dead to you anyways,’ ” the woman shared, adding that her mother-in-law followed up with “a barrage of insults” toward her family, accusing them of being secretive and disrespectful for not disclosing that she was actively in labor.
The situation didn’t stop there. According to the post, the mother-in-law has now taken to Facebook to spread false information, labeling the woman as “toxic.”
“My husband and I’s memory of my child’s birthday will be tainted with my MIL’s drama and it breaks my heart because it was meant to be special,” the woman wrote. “It will always be special, but it’s just a bit sad now, if that makes sense?”
Other users on Reddit were quick to rally behind the new mom, criticizing the mother-in-law’s behavior.
One commenter wrote, “She didn’t just ruin your birth experience, she declared war on your boundaries and now she’s playing victim because she lost access.”
Another added: “Well. She just lost access to her grandchild for life.”
