A woman is opening up about feeling “broken” after spending a week on a trip with her in-laws.

In a Reddit post, she shares that she took her 3-month-old baby along for what was supposed to be a celebration of her mother-in-law’s 75th birthday.

“I really wish we hadn’t gone,” she admits, explaining that although there were plenty of people on the trip with child-rearing experience, no one offered to hold the baby or give her a break.

She describes the situation: “They went out to dinner without us every night. It would be like, ‘Oh let’s go to a nice restaurant! At 7:30!’ Well, baby goes to sleep at 7 p.m. and the restaurant is 45 minutes away… One night they said they’d bring us back some food, but then apologized saying they lost track of time and the kitchen was closing. Every other night, we just fended for ourselves or ate the leftovers they brought home.”

The woman also reveals that she, her husband, and the baby were excluded from group photos, which were always taken while the baby was napping. She wasn’t invited to join group outings either.

“They didn’t want to have to plan; they wanted to do things spontaneously, which is nearly impossible with an infant,” she adds.

Many on Reddit are encouraging her to seek professional support. One commenter wrote, “Three months is SO little and they are still figuring out life. At that stage, I was still in survival mode and I can’t imagine traveling where I don’t have any of my normal tools or routines. You’re totally justified in feeling completely spent!”
