A newly married man in India died suddenly just hours after his wedding ceremony, shocking his family, friends and local community.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, revenue assistant Amol Prakash Godbole, 31, wed his wife at Shri Vitthal Rukmini Temple Hall in the village of Pusla, according to The Times of India. Relatives and guests from both sides attended the celebration.
Shortly after the ceremony, Godbole reportedly began to feel unwell. He was first taken to a nearby health center and then transferred to a private hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The Times of India reported that he is believed to have died from a heart attack.
The outlet also described the deep grief felt across the community following his sudden death, noting that condolences have been pouring in from people throughout the region.
In a similarly heartbreaking incident just weeks earlier, a groom in Egypt died suddenly during his wedding reception in September, according to video and news reports. The Daily Mail reported that a published video showed Ashraf Abu Hakam collapsing while dancing with his bride.
The footage shows Hakam celebrating and waving a Saidi stick, a prop used in the traditional Egyptian Saidi dance, before he suddenly fell to the floor. Guests were reportedly stunned as efforts were made to resuscitate him.
According to United Arab Emirates outlet Gulf News, attempts to revive Hakam were unsuccessful. He suffered a cardiac arrest and died within moments of collapsing. A friend later remembered him on social media as “full of life” and “excited for his future,” per Gulf News.
