Brooklyn Peltz Beckham is claiming his mother, fashion designer Victoria Beckham, backed out of making a wedding dress for his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, “at the eleventh hour.” But details from earlier coverage paint a different timeline.

Nicola, 31, walked down the aisle in April 2022 wearing a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown. According to Vogue, the dress was developed over a long period — the result of conversations with Pierpaolo Piccioli’s team that stretched across at least a year.

At the time, Nicola’s stylist, Leslie Fremar, described the process of choosing among sketches, fabrics and design elements as “the ultimate couture experience.”

That extended planning also included multiple trips and fittings. Vogue reported two visits to Rome and two fittings in the United States. “Seeing all the runway dresses in real life was so magic,” Nicola said ahead of the ceremony, recalling the atelier visit. “It looked like someone’s dream closet.”

Preparations continued with a fitting where Nicola tried on a mock-up of the garment, followed by refinements to the final piece. Fremar said the dress’s impact came from restraint: “The simplicity of it was magnificent,” she explained, adding that they ultimately removed embroidery rather than layering on extra detail.

To ensure everything was perfect, the head seamstresses traveled to Florida — where Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola married at her family’s Palm Beach estate — to oversee the final details, Vogue noted. The gown featured a sleeveless square neckline and a cathedral-length train.

Those long-lead couture details appear to conflict with Brooklyn’s new version of events, in which he says his mother was supposed to design the gown but withdrew at the last moment.

While addressing his estrangement from his parents in a series of Instagram Stories posted Monday, Jan. 19, Brooklyn referenced the long-circulating rumor that tension began around the wedding dress. He claimed his mother cancelled her plan to make it “at the eleventh hour,” forcing Nicola to quickly secure an alternative.

“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped. My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour, despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress,” Brooklyn wrote.

His comments also follow earlier reporting from a family insider last May, who said Victoria had told Nicola she would make the dress, but later contacted Nicola’s mother to say she wouldn’t be doing it. That insider argued Nicola was unfairly portrayed afterward: “Nicola was painted as a brat for not wearing Victoria Beckham at the wedding,” the source said.

The same person pointed to moments when Nicola publicly supported Victoria’s brand, noting Nicola had attended many Victoria Beckham fashion events in her clothing — and later wore Victoria Beckham to her Lola premiere.

Brooklyn’s posts included additional allegations as well, including claims that his parents tried to pressure him into signing away rights to his name before the wedding, and that Victoria disrupted his wedding dance with Nicola.
