It’s not just Democrats voicing outrage over President Donald Trump’s sweeping “Big Beautiful Bill,” which cleared the House on Thursday and is expected to be signed into law Friday.
Plenty of Republicans had harsh words for it, too—until it came time to vote.
A new MSNBC supercut video highlights the GOP hypocrisy: lawmakers who once slammed the bill for ballooning the national debt by trillions ultimately voted in favor of it.
The bill initially stalled in the House Wednesday as fiscal conservatives revolted, citing the lack of meaningful spending cuts. But by Thursday, most of the critics had fallen in line, casting “yes” votes despite their earlier objections.
According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the legislation will add roughly $3.3 trillion to the national debt over the next ten years. The CBO also warned that the bill’s deep cuts to Medicaid could leave as many as 12 million Americans without health coverage.
The supercut may be awkward—but it’s also a brutal reminder of how quickly political principles can be set aside.
