An Oregon man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his former girlfriend, after her body was discovered in her own vehicle following a rollover crash he caused while intoxicated.
Tyler Holman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2025 death of Ashley Gandolfi on Jan. 5, 2026, according to reports from KGW, KPTV and the Salem Statesman Journal. He was sentenced to life in prison on Jan. 14.
According to KPTV, citing the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, Holman was arrested in January 2025 after a rollover crash in Polk County.
When investigators searched the vehicle Holman had been driving, they found Gandolfi’s body inside, KGW reported. Authorities later determined she did not die in the crash, according to the outlet.
Investigators ultimately concluded that Gandolfi died from a gunshot wound, according to the reports.
Prosecutors said the vehicle Holman was driving belonged to Gandolfi and that he was intoxicated at the time, according to the outlets. The Statesman Journal reported that Holman and Gandolfi had previously been in a relationship and shared a child.
The child was living with Gandolfi’s parents at the time of the killing, the newspaper reported, citing court records.
KPTV and the Statesman Journal also reported that a second defendant in the case pleaded guilty in March 2025 to tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
Holman had also faced weapons and evidence-related charges, but those were dropped after he pleaded guilty to murder, KPTV reported.
He will be eligible for parole after 25 years, according to the Statesman Journal.
