A student who was critically wounded in the Dec. 13 shooting at Brown University has been identified by her former school.
Durham Academy in North Carolina named Kendall Turner as one of the nine people injured in the attack, according to an email sent to staff and obtained by PEOPLE.
“Her family has informed us that she is currently in critical but stable condition and is receiving care at a local hospital. Her parents are with her. We hope for her continued strength and recovery,” Head of School Michael Ulku-Steiner wrote.
The school said it is offering support to Turner, her classmates and her loved ones, as well as the other victims of the mass shooting.
“Our school community is rallying around Kendall, her classmates, and her loved ones, and we will continue to offer our full support in the days ahead,” Ulku-Steiner added.

The shooting unfolded at around 4 p.m. on Dec. 13, when a lone gunman entered a campus building and opened fire in a hallway before moving into a lecture hall. About 60 students had just finished a two-hour economics exam prep session, according to multiple people who were inside.
Witnesses said the shooter made an unintelligible comment before firing a rifle.
At least two people were killed and nine others were wounded. As of Monday morning, one injured person remained in critical condition, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said.
The two people killed have been identified by family members as Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov.
Authorities said the shooter fled the building and escaped without being apprehended. Investigators have also been unable to obtain video showing the person’s face, but police released footage a few hours after the shooting that shows someone they described as a person of interest walking away from the scene. The individual is seen from behind and is dressed entirely in black.

An individual initially described as a person of interest was taken into custody on Dec. 14 after FBI agents located him at a hotel in Coventry, about 20 miles south of Providence. He was released later the same day, Attorney General Peter F. Neronha said at a news conference: “It’s fair to say that there is no basis to consider him a person of interest, so that’s why he’s being released.”
Police are continuing to canvass neighborhoods near campus in an effort to obtain home security video.
In response to the shooting, Brown University said it would send students home early for winter break and cancel upcoming exams. Smiley said officials do not know whether the shooter remains in the city or the state.
A teacher at a public school less than a mile from the campus said classes were not canceled on Monday, though police presence in the area had increased.
