Pink is celebrating husband Carey Hart’s 50th birthday in the most touching way: with a handwritten list of 50 reasons why she loves him.
On July 18, the singer posted the four-page note to Instagram, honoring Hart—her husband of 19 years—with a deeply personal message. Alongside the letter, she shared a rare photo of Hart smiling outdoors with their two children, 14-year-old Willow and 8-year-old Jameson, in front of a tray of donuts.
“Happy birthday @hartluck,” she captioned the post. “Just thought the world needed 50 more reasons.”
Among her reasons: “Even when you’re in pain, you try to smile through it,” “Underneath a very tough exterior, you are all heart,” and “You are the same person in every room.” She also wrote, “You’ve given me a safe place to land for decades,” and “You’re a hero to many, but especially to these two kids.”
Pink signed the letter using her real name, Alecia, and told Hart he’s “aging like a fine wine” and “just getting started.”
The couple’s love story spans more than two decades. Pink and Hart met in 2001, split briefly in 2003, then reconciled in 2004. In true Pink fashion, she proposed during a motocross race by holding up a sign that read “Will you marry me?” followed by another: “Serious!” Hart pulled over and said yes.
They tied the knot in January 2006 at a beachside ceremony in Costa Rica. Though they separated after two years of marriage, the couple reunited in 2009 and have been together ever since. They welcomed daughter Willow in 2011 and son Jameson in 2016.
Hart once told Us Weekly the secret to their long marriage is “communication, having a teammate, [and] talking through bad situations.” He added, “Marriage isn’t easy. It’s always coming back to the table.”
Pink echoed that sentiment in a 2020 post: “Marriage is awful, wonderful, comfort, and rage. It is boring, terrifying, and a total nail biter. It is loving another fallible creature while trying to love yourself.”
To mark their 19th anniversary this January, Pink wrote: “I’ve been with you longer than I haven’t. You’ve been my one constant. You have loved me, hated me, and loved me again. I love our story no matter what gets written. It is gritty and sweet.”
Hart, in his own anniversary post, reflected: “For over 20 years we’ve traveled the world, made a family, and created amazing memories & life together. Not bad for a couple kids who weren’t expected to amount to anything. You are like a fine wine, and I love you.”
From motocross tracks to handwritten love letters, Pink and Carey Hart continue to write a story that’s equal parts raw, resilient, and romantic.
