An Alabama couple who had been planning their 30th wedding anniversary for nearly a year received an unexpected — and heartwarming — surprise.

Alma “Jeannie” Taylor of Harvest had ordered an enlarged print of one of her and her husband Dwayne’s wedding photos to commemorate their milestone celebration. But the package never arrived at their home. Instead, it found its way to the Harvest Post Office, according to Link, the daily news site for U.S. Postal Service (USPS) employees.

Rosalind Smith, a retail associate at the post office, recalled in a statement, “There was no name or address on it. It must have fallen out of its mailing tube.”

Unsure who the photo belonged to, Rosalind kept it safely stored, hoping its owners would eventually appear. She even shared the image on Facebook, asking her friends if they recognized the couple — but no one responded.

Months later, fate intervened. Dwayne stopped by the post office to send a package, and Rosalind immediately recognized him.

“I’ve been a customer in that Post Office before, but I hadn’t been there in a while,” Dwayne said. “When Rosalind saw me, she was like, ‘Where’ve you been? I’ve been waiting for you!’”

Though Rosalind couldn’t find the photo right away, she promised to call him once she did. “The retail associate searched furiously and uncovered it minutes later. When she called Taylor, her hands were shaking,” the report noted.

“My wife and I had gotten about two miles away when Rosalind called,” Dwayne said. “We were in shock. It’s a picture for the ages. We’ll be telling this story forever.”

Rosalind was equally touched by the moment. “It made a difference to me just to see that I made this couple happy,” she shared. “This made for a brighter day.”

The Taylors celebrated their anniversary a week later, grateful for the unexpected reunion with their cherished wedding memory.

“Hats off to the postal workers,” Dwayne added. “They work hard, and you don’t know what they go through to get mail and packages to you. Rosalind went above and beyond.”

Reflecting on the experience, Rosalind said, “God is amazing. I hadn’t seen this man all year, but then he walked right in. It was meant to be. This is why I love my job. Someone was made happy today.”
