Former President George W. Bush has a dining quirk that even his daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, admits she doesn’t approve of.

On the Aug. 26 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, Bush Hager, 43, revealed that her father takes his love of efficiency into restaurants.

“Since we’re talking about cool guys, I’ll tell you one thing my dad does recently,” she said. “Because he likes an early situation, sometimes he’ll order in — and I actually am opposed to this — he’ll call the restaurant and order the meal before we get there.”

According to Bush Hager, her father prefers to have food ready when he arrives to avoid waiting. “So he doesn’t have to wait,” she explained, recalling a recent dinner with her husband Henry Hager and her dad. “Because he has a little bit of a restless personality and sometimes Henry and I will arrive and their food [will be there].”

The habit has become so consistent that Bush’s staff has given her a heads-up in advance. “Somebody that works with him, Freddy, was like, ‘I just want to let you know,’ he sent me the menu, ‘Your dad likes to order before he goes out,’” she recalled, laughing. “I was like, ‘Uh, I guess I’ll have the pasta alfredo?’ It was at 3 p.m. on a Friday.”

This isn’t the only personal detail Bush Hager has shared about her father. Back in June, she revealed how the former president starts his mornings.

“You know what my dad does every single morning?” she asked her co-hosts. “He calls his best friend. Every single morning to say good morning and check in on him.”

PEOPLE later confirmed with President Bush’s office that the friend is former Commerce Secretary Donald L. Evans.

Her Today co-host Savannah Guthrie joked about Bush’s famously early bedtime. “He can’t say goodnight because he goes to bed at 6,” Guthrie said.

“Well, that’s true,” Bush Hager admitted.
