Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, are already learning what it means to “show up, do good.” The siblings recently joined their parents as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation partnered with Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles (OBKLA) to prepare meals for the local community.

OBKLA is a community-run nonprofit kitchen that produces more than 70,000 nourishing meals each year for food-insecure Angelenos. During the volunteer session, the Archewell team helped package meals for Los Angeles Mercy Housing, Pico Union Project and PATH, according to a Nov. 26 post on the Archewell Foundation website.

Archie and Lilibet joined their parents on the packaging line, helping roll dough as meals were assembled. Meghan, 44, later shared a look at the finished baked goods on her Instagram Stories with the caption, “Show up, do good.”

In the kitchen, bell peppers were chopped and prepared for Harry, 41, as he scooped them over containers of meat and rice while Meghan stood nearby holding Lili’s hand. Both Harry and Meghan wore Archewell hats for the visit; Meghan also sported a coordinating apron, while Harry wore an OBKLA smock.

Earlier this year, Meghan spoke about how she and Harry are raising Archie and Lili with a strong sense of community and an appreciation for where their food comes from. At their Montecito, Calif., home, the family tends a vegetable garden and uses a kid-sized farmer’s market stand as a teaching tool.

“We grow a lot of veggies, and part of what I want them to learn is- and gardening is really so great for children, ‘cause it teaches them patience, teaches them to value and appreciate their food,” Meghan said on a June 17 episode of the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast.

“So you start from seed, and you watch it grow, and they wait. But with that, it’s like, now do you want to sell your harvest? And do you want to share it with our community?” she continued.

“I think that’s key for children to understand that, especially children who are very lucky to have a home that has privilege. You need to know that, just like manners, and taking care of the things around you, there is a value on things.”

The family’s day of service came just before their Thanksgiving celebrations, which Meghan has described as fairly “low-key” at home. Her mother, Doria Ragland, lives nearby and is a frequent guest for the holiday meal, and friends without other plans are always welcome.

“I think you always make sure there’s room at the table for your friends who don’t have family, which is really key,” she told Marie Claire in November 2024.

With each passing year, Meghan said she treasures creating new memories as Archie and Lili grow and begin to fully enjoy the magic of the holiday season.

“Now we’re at the age where I just can’t wait to see it through their lens every year,” she said. “We’re always making sure we have something fun to do.”
