CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy — Olympic bobsled legend Kaillie Humphries has publicly declared her support for President Donald Trump, citing his administration’s policies on women’s sports, IVF, and immigration as central to her endorsement. The announcement came late Friday, February 27, 2026, just days after Humphries secured two bronze medals at the Milan Cortina Winter Games, cementing her status as the most decorated female bobsledder in Olympic history.

The 40-year-old Team USA pilot, who won bronze in both the inaugural monobob and the two-woman event, confirmed her Republican affiliation in a wide-ranging interview. Humphries revealed she voted for Trump in the 2024 election and praised his “America First” approach to national identity and athletic competition.

Advocacy for Women’s Sports and Biology

Humphries, a vocal advocate for the integrity of female athletics, aligned herself with the President’s stance on biological categories in sport. Drawing on her decades of experience in high-speed, power-based disciplines, she emphasized the physical differences between male and female athletes.

“It is very important that women have their own category to compete in,” Humphries stated. “I am 100 percent certain that I would have no chance of competing successfully against men at the Olympic level. Protecting women’s sports requires clear boundaries.”

She suggested that if transgender athletes wish to compete, a separate category should be established to preserve the “fairness and safety” of the female division—a position that mirrors the Trump administration’s legislative priorities regarding Title IX.

Personal Stakes: IVF and Immigration

Beyond the track, Humphries highlighted personal reasons for her political alignment. A new mother who underwent four embryo transfers to conceive her son, Aulden, she specifically cited Trump’s executive orders regarding In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) coverage.

“Knowing that insurance would cover IVF feels like hope,” Humphries said. “The financial and emotional burden of fertility treatments is overwhelming for families.”

As a legal immigrant who successfully transitioned from representing Canada to becoming a U.S. citizen in 2021, Humphries also weighed in on the administration’s border policies. She described the legal immigration process as “difficult but necessary,” arguing that the rigor of the system is essential for maintaining national order.

Defending Team USA Amidst Controversy

Humphries’ comments also touched on the recent “Miracle on Ice” resurgence, where the U.S. men’s hockey team secured gold. She defended the team against critics of their high-profile White House visit, dismissing the backlash as politically motivated.

“It was a ‘Miracle on Ice’ all over again,” she said. “The focus should be on the achievement, not the politics of an invitation. I would attend a White House celebration regardless of who was in office because it’s about representing your country.”

A Legendary Career at a Crossroads

With six Olympic medals—three gold and three bronze—Humphries now shares the record for the most medals won by any woman in bobsled history with teammate Elana Meyers Taylor.

While she has not officially announced her retirement, her pivot toward political discourse suggests a new chapter. As the 2026 Games conclude, Humphries remains a polarizing but undeniably influential figure, using her platform to bridge the gap between elite sport and national policy.
