Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Skylar Thompson, already recovering from a hamstring injury, sustained “minor injuries” during a robbery in Dublin, Ireland.
The 28-year-old was targeted ahead of the Steelers’ NFL Dublin game against the Minnesota Vikings at Croke Park, NFL.com reports.
The incident happened in the Dame Street area shortly before 3 a.m. local time on Saturday, Sept. 27. Emergency personnel treated Thompson on-site.
Thompson, who was placed on the Steelers’ injured reserve with a hamstring issue on Sept. 10, “suffered minor injuries but is okay and with the team,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Sunday, Sept. 28.
A Steelers spokesperson confirmed awareness of the robbery and told Pelissero, “We will have no further comment at this time as we are working with NFL security to gather more information regarding the incident.”
The Sept. 28 NFL Dublin Game marked the Steelers’ first regular-season matchup in Ireland. Pittsburgh edged out the Vikings, 24-21, in the Week 4 overseas contest.
Thompson is in his first season with the Steelers and his fourth in the NFL. The quarterback was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2022 after a standout college career with the Kansas State Wildcats.
