The raccoon that went viral for an over-the-top, booze-soaked break-in in Virginia has a track record — and this wasn’t his first time causing chaos.

Hanover County Animal Protection (HCAP) said on Dec. 2 that a raccoon broke into a local liquor store on Nov. 29, knocked bottles off the shelves and eventually passed out in the bathroom after what the agency described as a “liquor-fueled rampage.”

More than a week later, on Thursday, Dec. 11, Animal Protection Officer Samantha Martin revealed the animal is a repeat offender.

“This is not the first time he’s been in one of the buildings,” Martin — the officer who captured him — said on the Hear In Hanover podcast.

In fact, she said it was his third known break-in. His previous “targets” allegedly included a karate studio and the DMV, where he reportedly helped himself to snacks.

Martin added that her department didn’t relocate the raccoon — explaining that moving raccoons can be extremely dangerous for them — but the “smart little critter” has still managed to find his way back into the same building.

“I hope he learned his lesson,” she joked. “But I just say, ‘Enjoy your life.’ I think he’s living his best life — and why not? Have a drink or two, especially on Black Friday.”

Martin’s comments came after the animal’s antics spread widely online. She said that on Nov. 29 she arrived to find a raccoon had gotten into the building and sent multiple bottles crashing to the floor. The animal was described as “very intoxicated” when it was discovered lying face down in the Ashland ABC Store liquor store’s bathroom, according to the HCAP statement.

The incident even inspired a cheeky tribute: the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority announced three cocktails named in his honor — “Trash Panda Old Fashioned,” “Midnight Masked Gin Fizz” and “Rye Rascal Sour.”
