Reality TV star Erin Bates Paine, known for appearing on UPtv’s Bringing Up Bates with her parents and 18 siblings, is facing a serious health crisis after giving birth to her seventh child.
Erin, 34, married Chad Paine in 2013, and the couple recently welcomed their son, Henry. But just days after his birth, Erin was hospitalized after going into septic shock.
Chad shared an emotional update on Instagram, revealing that Erin had suffered a severe seizure.
“I have so many mixed emotions as I share this,” he wrote. “Last night, Erin suffered a lengthy and severe seizure. Up to this point, Erin’s infection was improving. But we found ourselves back in a place of heartache, uncertainty, and tears.

“She is in the ICU, and the doctors are running scans and tests to determine the cause. Erin is extremely weak and spent hours only half conscious.
“As her husband, it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced — to sit by her side and watch her struggle while being so helpless to ease her suffering. I love her more deeply than words can express, and I can’t even imagine life without my best friend.
“We hold on to faith that healing is coming, even in the midst of the unknown. Your prayers are felt, and we are forever grateful.”
Support from fans
Messages of encouragement poured in on Chad’s post. One follower wrote: “We are continuing to pray every day for a miraculous healing. Love you all.”
Another added: “Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with you, Paine family. We love y’all so much!”
Others also offered words of hope, with one commenter saying: “Sweet Erin. Praying right now for her complete healing, and will continue!”

What happened
Chad and Erin are also parents to Carson, Brooklyn, Everly, Holland, Finley, and William. The couple has previously spoken about their struggles with infertility and miscarriages.
Earlier this week, Chad explained that Erin developed a severe urinary tract infection and kidney infection, which triggered septic shock.
Posting another update from the hospital, he thanked supporters: *“We wanted to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and support you have given on our behalf. It’s been a week since our miracle, Henry, came into the world. He is doing well in the NICU and is our bundle of happiness.

“We had asked for prayer for recovery for Erin due to complications. Her labor was longer and more intense than previous births. We would covet your prayers for this beautiful girl who is such a light in a dark world.”*
Chad described Erin as “fighting” through the ordeal, showing “kindness and gratefulness in the midst of pain.” He ended with a message of faith: “We are holding onto God’s promises.”
