Rick Hurst, beloved for his role as Cletus Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard, has died at 79.

Rick Hurst, the actor best known for his role as the lovable Deputy Cletus Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard, has died at the age of 79.

His wife, Candace Kaniecki, confirmed to TMZ that Hurst passed away unexpectedly on Thursday in Los Angeles. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Hurst charmed audiences in the late 1970s and early 1980s with his warm, comical portrayal of Cletus, becoming a fan favorite on the hit television series.

Family and Legacy

Hurst was married twice. He had one son with his first wife, Katherine Shelley Weir. He later married acting coach Candace Kaniecki, who remained with him until his death.

He is survived by his two sons, Ryan and Collin Hurst.
