Nick Reiner was reportedly not at the Brentwood home of his late parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, when their bodies were discovered.
Nick, 32, allegedly left the residence and traveled a short distance before being located by police near the University of Southern California campus, ABC News reported. Authorities were able to find him “quickly,” the outlet said, and arrested him on suspicion of murder at around 9:15 p.m. Sunday.
A Los Angeles Police Department public information officer confirmed that the arrest took place in the Exposition Park area near USC. The University of Southern California has been contacted for comment.
Nick was taken into custody on Dec. 14, hours after Rob and Michele were found dead Sunday afternoon. The Los Angeles Police Department said their bodies were discovered at about 3:40 p.m., and investigators later identified Nick as the suspect.

He was arrested on murder charges in connection with their deaths and is currently being held without bond at Los Angeles’ Twin Towers Jail. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, Dec. 16, according to a source.
The night before the killings, Nick, Michele, and Rob attended a holiday party hosted by Conan O’Brien, where Nick and Rob got into what two attendees described as a “big fight.” One person said Nick “was freaking everyone out,” acting erratically and repeatedly asking guests if they were famous.
Rob and Michele married in 1989 and had three children together: Jake, Nick, and Romy. Before marrying Michele, Rob was married to Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981, and he adopted her daughter, Tracy, during that marriage.
Nick has previously spoken publicly about struggles with addiction and homelessness that began in his teens. In a 2016 interview, he said he cycled in and out of rehab starting around age 15, and that as his addiction worsened, he became increasingly estranged from home and spent long periods unhoused in multiple states.
