A woman is sharing her frustration about her roommate’s unusual habits.

She posted on Reddit’s “Am I the A——?” forum, saying she finds it “disgusting and nonsensical” that her roommate washes kitchen and bathroom towels together.

“I am disgusted that my flatmate thinks it’s okay to bring what was once the bathroom floor mat into the kitchen, even after washing it,” she wrote, explaining the towel’s previous uses.

“The towel has been on the floor for weeks, picking up poop and pee smells, and dirty shoe particles,” she continued. “I’ve seen hair all over it, and they think just because it’s been washed, it’s fine to use in the kitchen to dry dishes or while cooking.”

The woman and her roommate share their home with another person.

“Me and my other flatmate feel really uncomfortable about the bathroom floor towel being in the kitchen,” she said. “We feel it’s very unhygienic because the kitchen is where we prepare food, and now something that was in the bathroom is being used there.”

To address the problem, they had an “intervention” with the roommate.

“They think we are policing what they can and can’t do with their towels,” she recalled. Then she asked, “Am I the a—— for telling my flatmate to keep their bathroom and kitchen towels separate?”

Most Reddit users disagreed with her, though. One suggested, “Why don’t you buy a proper thick bath mat that can’t be used as a towel if it’s bothering you that much?”

Another replied that she is “not the a——” in this situation.

“I’d personally never eat off a plate dried with a towel that was on the bathroom floor, even if it’s washed,” the Redditor said. “You’re just asking for basic hygiene rules in shared areas. If they can’t respect that, maybe suggest keeping personal towels separate entirely, out of shared spaces.”
