Russian President Vladimir Putin told Donald Trump Russia is ready to resume Ukraine talks, says Kremlin.

Russian President Vladimir Putin told former U.S. President Donald Trump that Moscow remains committed to its objectives in Ukraine and has no plans to abandon them—but is still open to continued diplomatic negotiations, the Kremlin said Thursday following a phone call between the two leaders.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Putin made it clear that “Russia will achieve the goals it has set—those related to the root causes of the current situation. Russia will not give up on these aims.”

Despite this firm stance, Ushakov noted that Putin expressed a willingness to resume peace talks. “He also mentioned Russia’s readiness to continue the negotiation process,” Ushakov said, adding that the conversation lasted nearly an hour.

During the call, Putin also emphasized the importance of diplomacy in resolving broader regional tensions, particularly in the Middle East and Iran. “The Russian side underscored that all disputes, disagreements, and conflicts must be addressed solely through political and diplomatic means,” Ushakov said.
