Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., took a spill on the Senate floor Wednesday while the chamber was in the midst of voting on resolutions related to U.S. military support for Israel.

Video footage captured the moment Warren attempted to sit on a desk but misjudged her movement, causing her to fall backward and topple over the desk onto the floor.

In an unexpected show of bipartisanship, several Republican senators rushed to assist her. Among those who moved quickly were Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who helped her get back on her feet. Cruz was seen extending his hand to help Warren up.

Other GOP lawmakers, including Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming, also approached to offer assistance.

The incident occurred during a vote on two Senate resolutions aimed at halting American military sales to Israel. Warren voted in favor of both measures.

The proposals originated from Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., a vocal critic of Israel’s military campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The resolutions failed, with every Republican voting against them.

The fall comes amid increased attention to physical stumbles by senior lawmakers and officials. Former President Joe Biden experienced several such moments during his time in office, including a high-profile fall during the 2023 U.S. Air Force Academy commencement ceremony.
