Sen. John Fetterman shared a candid recovery selfie on Saturday, two days after he was hospitalized due to a fall near his Pennsylvania home linked to a ventricular fibrillation episode.

Posting on X, the Pennsylvania Democrat thanked the medical staff at UPMC for helping him recover and expressed gratitude for the well-wishes he received. His message noted that after “twenty stitches” and treatment, he is now home and healing.

A spokesperson explained that Fetterman had been on a morning walk in Braddock when he suddenly felt light-headed and collapsed, striking his face. Doctors determined that a flare-up of ventricular fibrillation — an irregular heart rhythm that can cause dizziness or sudden falls — triggered the incident.

After being admitted for monitoring and medication adjustments, Fetterman was discharged and is recuperating with his family. In a humorous remark shared earlier, he joked, “If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!”

His recovery post quickly spread across social platforms, sparking messages of support and renewed conversations about his health. Fetterman has been open about medical challenges since his stroke during the 2022 Senate campaign, emphasizing the importance of transparency around both physical and mental health.

The fall comes as he has taken a prominent role in the ongoing government shutdown fight — even breaking with many fellow Democrats this week to vote with Republicans to reopen the federal government.

Fetterman concluded his latest post with a straightforward commitment to return to work soon:
“See you back in D.C.”
