The Michigan home of Sen. Elissa Slotkin was the target of a bomb threat just days after she appeared in a video urging U.S. service members to refuse “illegal” orders.
A spokesperson for the Michigan Democrat said in a statement posted on X Friday night that Michigan State Police responded to the senator’s residence following the threat.
“The Senator wasn’t home at the time. MSP searched the property and confirmed no one was in danger,” the statement noted.
“Senator Slotkin is deeply grateful for the swift and professional response by Oakland County and Michigan State Police,” it continued, adding that U.S. Capitol Police will lead the ongoing investigation and work to hold those responsible accountable.

The video, released Tuesday, has drawn sharp criticism from Republicans and the Trump administration.
In the clip, titled “Don’t Give Up the Ship,” Slotkin appears alongside fellow Democrats Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona and Reps. Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania, Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire, Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, and Jason Crow of Colorado. Each lawmaker cites prior experience in the military or intelligence community while appealing to service members to “stand up for our laws” and refuse unlawful orders.
In recent weeks, Slotkin and her colleagues have introduced legislation aimed at curbing former President Donald Trump’s authority to deploy National Guard troops domestically or launch military action against suspected narco-terrorists without congressional approval.
That broader legislative push is not mentioned in the video itself, which focuses instead on the warning to troops about following only lawful directives.

Trump reacted furiously on Truth Social on Thursday, accusing the lawmakers of “seditious behavior at the highest level” and calling them “traitors” who should be arrested and put on trial. He claimed their statements, if left unchallenged, would endanger the country and said that “an example must be set.”
Later the same day, Trump escalated his rhetoric further, asserting that the actions highlighted in the video were “punishable by death.”
