A bride reached her “final straw” after her sister took her wedding food.
The bride, who got married over the weekend, shared her frustration on Reddit’s “Wedding Shaming” forum, saying her whole family “acted selfishly” at her wedding. The worst part, she said, was when her sister “packed up early to steal what food and desserts and decorations” were left.
“The place was empty, and there was no food in sight,” the bride wrote.
Problems started during the wedding setup. The bride’s oldest sister and her girlfriend tried to help with appetizers and planning, but the couple “ignored” the bride’s attempts to assist and told her to “relax,” pushing her into the bridal suite.
The bride had hoped her sister would keep their mother and siblings “away” from her, but instead, they kept finding ways to “ambush” her. They “hovered and watched” all night, “even sending disgusted looks” to the groom.

When the bride pointed out that events, including dinner, were starting late, she was “scolded,” and guests were getting “restless.” Food wasn’t served until the bride “had to yell at them to feed everybody,” and during dinner, some appetizers were completely forgotten.
From messed-up seating charts to vendors and security leaving early, the bride was frustrated that “very specific details that [she] wanted to make sure happened got ignored.”
At the end of the night, the bride went to help clean up and noticed that almost everything was already “packed” in her sister’s car.
“She said she had planned to give our food to her friends and offered to give us 1-4 servings of frozen food,” the bride wrote. “That came out of MY bank account. There was never a single discussion with me about this until they made the decision and executed their plan.”
Although the bride said people could “take leftovers,” she never expected anyone to stop her from “taking stuff home that night.”
“I didn’t think I’d have to clarify that they could take whatever we didn’t want, not the other way around,” she said.
A few days later, the bride texted her sister saying she was upset that her sister had taken “all of the control from [her]” and tried to “ruin” the wedding.

“[I] told her I was upset by everyone’s actions, that I feel like they owe me for the cost of the food, and that I will not speak to her about anything other than returning my property to me,” she said. “…All of them prevented me from enjoying my wedding to the fullest and that’s something I can never forgive. Her response? ‘Excuse me?!'”
The bride thinks her sister will “disguise everyone’s behavior” as wedding help and claim that “taking the food was her ‘payment.'”
Reddit users said this situation shows why “family and friends should be guests, not vendors.”
“BOUNDARIES. You need some,” one person commented. Another added, “Seems like you really needed to advocate for yourself and choose the easier road. Lesson learned!”
The bride later updated that she cannot take any of the food back because it will be “bad” by the time she could get it from her sister’s house. She also “cannot go off on her without fear she will retaliate” because her sister still has some of her wedding property.
