Social Security July 2025 payments: When will you get your stimulus checks

The IRS has officially confirmed that all three rounds of federal stimulus checks—known as Economic Impact Payments—were completed between 2020 and 2021. Those who missed out had until April 2025 to claim any unpaid amounts through the Recovery Rebate Credit. That deadline has now expired.

However, after a case review this spring, some individuals who previously didn’t receive their stimulus were issued credits directly to their bank accounts in May or June 2025.

Here’s what to expect in terms of federal and state payments for July 2025:

Federal Payments – July 2025

  • SSI (Supplemental Security Income):
Monthly checks will be issued on July 1, 2025.
  • Social Security Payments:
Distributed according to the recipient’s birth date.
(See: “July 2025 SSA payment schedule: When to expect your SSI”)
  • IRS Tax Refunds:
If you mailed your return between May 16 and May 31, you may receive your refund between July 11 and July 25.

State Relief Programs – July 2025

There are no new federal stimulus payments this month, but several states are offering local assistance:

  • New York:
Eligible taxpayers who filed on time may receive an Inflation Rebate of up to $500, automatically calculated based on income.
  • California (Sacramento):
The Sacramento Family First Program provides up to $725 for residents earning less than 200% of the federal poverty level.
Applications must be submitted through the official state website.
  • Other States:
    • Colorado, Arizona, and Texas are offering a mix of rebates and tax credits, with eligibility based on income and other criteria.

How to Check If You Qualify

  • Log into your official IRS online account.
  • Visit your state revenue department’s website for local program info.
  • Watch for official letters or notifications from state agencies.

Important Scam Warning

The IRS and state agencies will never call, text, or email you asking for personal information.
Be cautious of scam websites and offers that sound too good to be true. Always use official government channels to verify payment status or eligibility.
