A speeding car tore through the backyard of a Nevada home, ejecting its driver into a swimming pool in a dramatic crash that was captured on video.

The incident happened on Dec. 15 at the Laughlin home of Cletis Frank Reed, according to Storyful. Security footage shows the vehicle flipping over the property’s boundary wall before slamming into the backyard. At the same time, the driver was hurled through the car’s window and landed in the pool.

Reed said he was only moments away from entering his hot tub near the crash site when the impact occurred, according to FOX affiliate KVVU.

“I popped the cover on and I was like, you know, I gotta tell my wife something. And by the grace of God I’m here and the patio goes ‘Bam!’ I would have been dead,” Reed said. “It would have killed me.”

He told Storyful that the sound of the crash was overwhelming. “It sounded like a freight train,” he said, recalling how he went outside and “saw the carnage.”

“I saw a lady floating in the pool, ran back to the house and told them to call 911,” Reed added.

According to KVVU, the woman landed in the shallow end of the pool, a detail Reed believes saved her life.

“If she went 4 feet that way, and concrete — and you know the end result of that,” he said.

A crash report indicated the driver had been speeding shortly before the incident, KVVU reported. She was also suspected of being impaired and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Reed said it took several hours to remove the vehicle from his property, which he estimates sustained roughly $300,000 in damage, according to Storyful. The patio was destroyed, and motor oil contaminated the pool, KVVU reported.

“I can’t really sleep well because I keep running it through my head again,” Reed said.
