Dominique Alexander, spokesperson for the family of Karmelo Anthony, described the teenager’s upcoming murder trial as a battle against white supremacy, following Anthony’s indictment for the death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf.

Alexander, who also serves as president of the Next Generation Action Network (NGAN), issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter), asserting that Anthony is being unfairly targeted.

“This case involves multiple minors and sensitive details that I cannot and will not speak about publicly,” Alexander said. “That is why, from the beginning, I have refused to let this be tried in the court of public opinion.”

He went on to condemn what he described as racially motivated hostility toward Anthony and his family.

“To the racists, the bigots, and those filled with hate who’ve targeted Karmelo, his family, and even myself, you do not intimidate us. We are not backing down,” he said.

Alexander framed the case as emblematic of broader racial issues in the U.S., stating:
“This case is yet another example of what it means to be Black in America, where even our self-defense is questioned, scrutinized, and politicized. My involvement—like many others—came as a direct response to the overwhelming hate, threats, and outside influence that have surrounded this case since day one.”

He concluded his statement with a call to action: “Stand with us in the fight against white supremacy.”

However, Karmelo Anthony’s attorney, Mike Howard, cautioned against interpreting the trial through a racial lens.

“This case involves two teenagers, one Black, one white,” Howard told Fox News. “So it’s understandable that some would see it through the lens of race. But the legal and factual matters at the heart of this case are not about race. The law applies equally to everyone, and we trust the people of Collin County to uphold that principle.”

The case has drawn heightened public attention, with community leaders and activists weighing in on both sides as the legal process continues.
