A Pennsylvania teenager is facing homicide and attempted homicide charges after authorities say he shot both of his parents the day after Christmas, killing his mother and injuring his father.
Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) responded to a report of a shooting involving two victims at a home on Garrison Road in Freeport Township at around 1:58 p.m. local time on Friday, Dec. 26, according to the agency. When troopers arrived, they found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital in nearby Morgantown, W.V., where she later died.
Police also found an adult man with a gunshot wound at the home. He was transported to the same hospital and was later released in “stable condition,” PSP said.
Investigators determined the victims were husband and wife. PSP identified the alleged shooter as Jarrod Noll, 18, the couple’s son.

After the shooting, Noll ran from the area on foot. PSP said an extensive search of the surrounding area was carried out, but he was not located at the time. Authorities then launched a manhunt and warned the public that the suspect “may be armed and dangerous,” advising people not to approach him if seen.
In an update posted on X at 6:01 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, PSP said Noll was taken into custody by the West Virginia State Police “without incident.”
“We used tracking dogs, we used helicopters, and we used police on foot searching rough terrain,” PSP Sergeant Richard Sizer said of the search, per CBS News. He added that a suspect wanted on a homicide warrant and believed to have a gun posed “a huge danger to the community.”

PSP said Noll’s younger siblings were home when the shooting happened, but that the shooting itself occurred outside the residence, according to CBS News. The children are now in the custody of a family member.
Noll remains in custody in West Virginia while awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. He has been charged with homicide and attempted homicide, according to the outlet.
