A Florida teenager has been arrested after allegedly fatally shooting his parents and then calling 911 to report the killings—while also asking the dispatcher to pray for him, authorities said.

David Lee, 44, and Brandi Smith, 45, were found dead in their Middleburg home on Monday, August 4, according to a statement from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Their son, Trevor Lee, was arrested on murder charges after allegedly confessing to the crime during a 911 call he made from a nearby church, the sheriff’s office said.

In a redacted recording of the emergency call obtained by WTSP, the caller—believed to be Trevor—tells the dispatcher that he is at the church because he “needed to pray.” He claims to have emptied his pockets, discarded his backpack, and was waiting in the middle of the church.

According to the report, the teen then asked the dispatcher to pray for him.

“I will definitely be praying for you, son,” the dispatcher replied, WTSP reported.

Trevor allegedly went on to describe what had happened, though the specific details were withheld from the public due to the ongoing investigation. The operator remained on the line with him for roughly 10 minutes, authorities said, until law enforcement arrived and took him into custody.

Police said the shooting appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

At this time, no plea has been entered, and attorney information for the teen has not been made available.
