The White House hit back at The View on Wednesday, calling the show’s panel “Trump-deranged wackos” after a lengthy discussion about the newly passed legislation ordering the release of investigation files tied to convicted s** offender Jeffrey Epstein.

During the Nov. 19 episode, co-hosts Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Ana Navarro and Joy Behar debated what the documents could reveal and how their release might affect President Donald Trump, whom the show has repeatedly criticized in the past.

Behar opened the segment by pointing to sweeping bipartisan momentum in Congress. The U.S. House of Representatives approved the measure 427–1, with just one lawmaker voting no, and the Senate later passed it unanimously.

Haines suggested that disclosure of the files could become a major political problem for Trump, noting that some Republicans — including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene — have also pushed for transparency on the issue. Griffin said public pressure helped drive Congress to act, while Hostin stressed the gravity of the case, arguing that releasing the records should be a nonpartisan priority given Epstein’s crimes.

After the episode aired, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly targeting the panel’s commentary. She argued that the co-hosts should instead question Democratic leaders such as Hakeem Jeffries and Del. Stacey Plaskett about reported past interactions with Epstein that occurred after he was already a convicted s** offender.

Jackson’s remarks referenced reports that Jeffries’ name appeared in a 2013 fundraising email connected to Epstein, which Jeffries has said he doesn’t recall and insists he never met Epstein. She also pointed to Plaskett’s acknowledgment that she received messages from Epstein among many unsolicited texts during a 2019 hearing; Plaskett’s office has said she welcomed information that could help uncover the truth.

Trump announced on Nov. 19 that he has signed the legislation requiring the Justice Department to release all unclassified records, communications and investigative materials in its possession related to Epstein’s investigation and prosecution. The law allows redactions for victim privacy and classified material, but not for political sensitivity or embarrassment.
