Trinity Rodman is speaking out.

The 23-year-old soccer star has been a regular fixture in the stands at Wimbledon this year, showing up to support her boyfriend, rising American tennis star Ben Shelton. Often seated alongside Shelton’s parents and sister Emma, Rodman’s presence hasn’t gone unnoticed by broadcasters. But their commentary has left her feeling frustrated — and misrepresented.

On Monday, July 7, Rodman took to her Instagram Stories to address a series of mistakes made during coverage of Shelton’s matches.

“For those who don’t know, my name is TRINITY, not Tiffany,” she wrote, correcting on-air misidentifications made by Wimbledon commentators.

But it wasn’t just the name error that bothered her.

Rodman, who plays forward for the Washington Spirit and helped the U.S. Women’s National Team win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, also took issue with broadcasters bringing up her estranged father, former NBA player Dennis Rodman.

“Also, for Ben’s matches, he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad… My dad’s not even in MY life. No need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don’t even want him talked about during mine,” she wrote. “It’s his and his loved ones’ moment. Thank you.”

Rodman has been open about her strained relationship with her father. In a December 2024 episode of Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, she described Dennis Rodman as largely absent from her life and said he struggles with alcoholism. She recalled a painful moment during her rookie season when he showed up to a match unannounced after months of no contact, only to disappear from her life again for two more years.

“I finished that half and cried my eyes out in the locker room at halftime,” she shared on the podcast, adding that the lack of continued effort from him left her with “lost hope in ever getting him back.”

Despite the personal challenges, Trinity remains focused on supporting Shelton, 22, who is set to face world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on July 9. By reaching this stage, Shelton has already gone further than his father, Bryan Shelton, a former pro who reached the round of 16 in 1994.

Shelton isn’t the only American player drawing attention on and off the court. Taylor Fritz, who is also having a strong tournament, will play in the semifinals on July 11 with his girlfriend, influencer Morgan Riddle, cheering from the stands.

For Trinity Rodman, though, Wimbledon isn’t about the spotlight or legacy names — it’s about supporting the people who are present and meaningful in her life right now.
