President Donald Trump on Friday threw his support behind Republican National Committee (RNC) Treasurer Joe Gruters to become the next RNC Chairman, following Michael Whatley’s decision to run for U.S. Senate in North Carolina.
“MAGA Warrior Joe Gruters, who has been with us from the very beginning, is running to become the next Chairman of the Republican National Committee, succeeding the Great Michael Whatley,” Trump announced on Truth Social. “Michael just launched his Campaign for the U.S. Senate from North Carolina.”
Trump praised Gruters’ long-standing loyalty and leadership within the party, noting his role as State Senator and former Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, where he helped deliver “massive and historic victories” — including Trump’s wins in Florida during the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections.
“As RNC Treasurer, Joe has been a fierce advocate for our movement,” Trump continued. “He’s fought tirelessly to ensure the RNC is highly functioning, fiscally responsible, and financially successful. He will be a wonderful Chairman!”
Trump also endorsed Jennifer Saul-Rich, an RNC member from New York, to step in as treasurer should Gruters become chair.
Whatley, a close Trump ally, launched his Senate campaign earlier this week after serving as North Carolina GOP Chairman and later as RNC Chair.
