President Donald Trump shared new details about a conversation he had with Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie as the search continues for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.

In a Truth Social post on Wednesday, Feb. 4, Trump wrote that he spoke with Guthrie and pledged federal support to help find her mother.

“I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump, 79, wrote. “We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely. The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT NANCY!”

Just before Trump posted the message, Savannah appeared in a video shared to her Instagram page alongside her sister Annie and brother Camron, urging whoever may have taken their mother to bring her home.

“We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media,” Savannah said. “As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.”

NBC News anchor Tom Llamas also referenced the call during an NBC News special, saying Trump spoke with Savannah earlier Wednesday and offered support as the family searches for Nancy.

According to NBC News, the president was aware of how close Savannah is with her mother and told the family that resources would be available as needed.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) said Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her Arizona home on Saturday, Jan. 31, around 9:30 p.m. local time. Authorities began an urgent search the next day after she was reported missing at about 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Trump had indicated he planned to contact Savannah a day earlier while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and said federal help would be available to Arizona law enforcement.

“It’s a terrible thing,” he said at the time. “I always get along well with Savannah. Very unusual situation, but we’re going to find out.”

Trump and Guthrie have had public clashes in the past. At a 2020 rally, he criticized her, calling her a “crazed lunatic,” and accused her of “screaming questions” at him while moderating an NBC News town hall ahead of that year’s election.

The White House also posted about Nancy’s disappearance on its official Instagram page on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

On Monday, Feb. 2, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Nancy’s home was being treated as a “crime scene” and urged anyone with relevant information to contact authorities.

“We don’t need another bad, tragic ending. We need some help,” Nanos said.
