WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump came to the defense of Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday, calling her performance “fantastic” and dismissing renewed scrutiny over Jeffrey Epstein, whose case has triggered controversy among Trump’s base following a recent Department of Justice report.
“Pam Bondi is doing a FANTASTIC JOB,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “We’re all on the same team — MAGA — and I don’t like what I’m seeing. People need to stop attacking her.”
Bondi has faced mounting criticism from some Trump loyalists after the DOJ and FBI released a joint review last week debunking the existence of an alleged Epstein client list, reigniting speculation and mistrust among conspiracy-minded supporters.
Trump, however, brushed off the renewed interest in Epstein as a distraction.
“Epstein, Epstein, Epstein — it’s been years,” Trump wrote. “He’s the guy who never dies. Now people are giving publicity to files written by Obama, Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and all the losers and criminals from the Biden administration.”
Trump: “Let Bondi Do Her Job”
The president blasted critics who, he said, were “playing right into the hands” of his political enemies by amplifying attention on Epstein’s file.
“Why didn’t the Radical Left release the Epstein files if they had anything in there to hurt MAGA?” Trump asked. “They made up the fake Steele Dossier — this is no different.”
He added: “The FBI needs to focus on real threats: Voter fraud, political corruption, the stolen 2020 election, not wasting months digging through documents about some creep no one cares about.”
Trump insisted that Bondi was focused on the issues that matter to his movement.
“Let Pam Bondi do her job — she’s great,” he said. “She’s working to expose the stolen 2020 election and stop them from stealing it again in 2024.”
Rift Grows Between Bondi and Bongino
The defense of Bondi comes as FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is reportedly considering resignation after a heated internal clash over the handling of the Epstein investigation. Sources say Bongino was frustrated with Bondi’s decision to accept the DOJ’s conclusion that Epstein died by suicide and that no elite “client list” existed.
A DOJ spokesperson said last week that Epstein hanged himself in 2019, and that no video footage showed foul play — though a one-minute gap in the surveillance tape has fueled further speculation.
Trump to Reporter: “Still Talking About This Creep?”
During a Cabinet meeting earlier this week, Trump cut off a reporter who asked Bondi about the Epstein file.
“Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein?” he asked. “We’ve got Texas underwater, the border is a disaster, and you’re asking about some creep? That’s unbelievable.”
Bondi, for her part, said the FBI delivered a truckload of Epstein documents to the DOJ, which were reviewed and released under Trump’s direction in the name of transparency.
MAGA Infighting Over Bondi’s Future
Despite Trump’s defense, a vocal segment of MAGA supporters have called for Bondi’s resignation, accusing her of whitewashing Epstein’s crimes. Trump’s comments appeared aimed at tamping down that unrest within his base.
“One year ago our country was dead,” he wrote. “Now it’s the hottest place in the world — don’t waste time on Epstein. Let’s stay focused.”
Bondi, who has long been a Trump ally, has not responded to calls for her resignation but maintains the DOJ’s findings are legitimate and based on extensive internal review.
“There is no Epstein client list,” a DOJ official reiterated last week. “There is no cover-up. There is no conspiracy.”
