Donald Trump’s aides and White House staffers are reportedly sounding the alarm behind closed doors over the president’s physical and mental condition, following a string of unsettling behaviors that have raised serious concerns.
According to sources who spoke with Salon, six key warning signs have caught the attention of those closest to the president: his erratic public appearances, a noticeable change in his walking pattern, signs of confusion, disjointed Truth Social rants replacing traditional governance, unkempt attire, and a growing disengagement from day-to-day White House operations.
One of the most noticeable shifts? Trump hasn’t shown up to work in the Oval Office on a Monday in nearly a month. Meanwhile, instead of traveling to his usual golf retreats in Bedminster or Mar-a-Lago, he’s been sticking to a nearby course in Sterling, Virginia.
“He’s staying closer to D.C. because it takes less energy,” one insider said. “I don’t think he’s in good physical health.”
Staff are reportedly terrified to discuss the issue openly. “If I talked about this publicly, I’d be out of a job—or worse,” said one member of his inner circle.
The concern intensified after viewers noticed a discoloration and swelling on Trump’s hand during a recent appearance—adding fuel to growing speculation about his health.
On Monday, Trump was notably absent. He resurfaced Tuesday to visit “Alligator Alcatraz,” a new migrant detention facility in the Florida Everglades. But what was meant to be a policy-focused visit quickly turned into a rambling spectacle.
In a Truth Social post, Trump bizarrely raved:
“Because of the Violence and Criminality… I saw a picture of ALCATRAZ looking so foreboding, and I said, ‘We’re going to look into renovating and rebuilding the famous ALCATRAZ Prison sitting high on the Bay, surrounded by sharks… Conceptual work started six months ago.’”
During a press Q&A at the facility, Trump seemed confused when asked how long detainees would be held. Instead of answering, he veered into a ramble about loving Florida, praising the governor, and complaining about New York taxes.
By Wednesday, Trump had again vanished from public view, with no scheduled appearances. Even the Marine who traditionally signals the president’s presence outside the Oval Office didn’t appear until late in the day.
Thursday saw a brief return to form. Melania Trump made a rare appearance alongside him to welcome freed U.S.-Israeli hostage Eden Alexander. Later that evening, Trump traveled to Iowa for a “Salute to America” rally—where things took another odd turn.
In his speech, Trump falsely claimed his “big, beautiful bill” would save two billion farms—despite the fact that there are only around 1.9 million in the U.S. He also repeated the debunked claim that his bill eliminates taxes on Social Security, and appeared to forget the name of the World Cup, while attempting to take credit for bringing international sporting events to the U.S.
To top it off, Trump proposed hosting a UFC match at the White House.
“We’re going to have… does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We’re going to have a UFC fight… on the grounds of the White House,” he declared to a stunned crowd.
From increasing disappearances and confusing remarks to far-fetched ideas, Trump’s behavior has prompted whispers among allies and aides alike. While the administration publicly dismisses concerns, those closest to the president fear the warning signs can no longer be ignored.
