President Donald Trump on Thursday hailed the passage of his sweeping legislative package — dubbed the “Big, Beautiful Bill” — calling it “the biggest bill of its kind ever signed” and predicting it will launch the country into a new era of prosperity.
“It’s going to make this country into a rocket ship,” Trump said. “It’s going to be really great.”
The House narrowly passed the massive domestic policy package in a 218-214 vote after an all-night session on Capitol Hill. The Senate had approved the bill earlier in the week, clearing the way for it to head to Trump’s desk.
Only two Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania — voted against the measure. Not a single Democrat supported it.
“I was disappointed [Fitzpatrick] did that,” Trump said. “But when you look at the bill, it was actually very easy to get through the House.”
Trump Touts GOP Unity, Historic Scope of Bill
Speaking ahead of the July 4 holiday weekend, Trump praised the Republican Party’s unity and said the bill sends a strong signal as the country heads into Independence Day.
Flanked by House Speaker Mike Johnson and GOP lawmakers at a press event celebrating the bill’s passage, Trump emphasized the bill’s broad scope: historic tax cuts, major boosts to military and border security funding, and sweeping economic reforms.
“It’s great for our security, great for the southern border,” he said. “Immigration is covered, and we included just about everything. It’s the biggest bill ever signed in its category.”
White House: ‘America Will Take Off Like a Rocket Ship’
The White House echoed the president’s optimism, saying the legislation would “usher in America’s Golden Age.”
“This bill delivers the largest tax cut in U.S. history, along with bold, pro-growth reforms that will slash deficits and debt,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital. “America is going to take off like a rocket ship!”
Independence Day Signing Ceremony Planned
Trump also announced a patriotic signing ceremony to mark the occasion.
The official signing is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. at the White House, and will feature a flyover by U.S. Air Force jets — including B-2 bombers, F-22 Raptors, and F-35 Lightning II fighters.
“We’re going to have those beautiful planes flying right over our heads as we sign the bill,” Trump said, speaking from the tarmac after arriving at Joint Base Andrews.
