Cory Booker and Alexis Lewis are officially husband and wife.
The 56-year-old U.S. Senator and the 38-year-old real estate investment firm director exchanged vows in two separate ceremonies held in places that are deeply meaningful to them both.
Their first wedding took place on Monday, Nov. 24, in Newark, N.J., a city that has been central to many of Booker’s political milestones. The intimate ceremony was held with their parents present as witnesses, according to The New York Times.
A second celebration followed on Saturday, Nov. 29, in Washington, D.C., where the couple gathered with loved ones to mark the occasion.
Booker and Lewis shared the happy news on Instagram on Sunday, Nov. 30, posting together about both weddings. One post featured a glimpse of their courthouse ceremony at the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in Newark, while another highlighted their celebration in the nation’s capital.
“Overflowing with gratitude. We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us — Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C. — first at the courthouse, then with our families,” they wrote in a joint caption on both posts.

“Hearts full and so grateful,” they added.
Booker, a former presidential candidate, had announced his engagement to Lewis on social media back in September.
“Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life. She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love,” he wrote in an Instagram carousel at the time. “I’m thrilled to share: Alexis and I are engaged!”
“I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée,” he continued, adding, “We are excited for this journey ahead.”
His engagement post featured five tropical photos of the couple together before, during and after the proposal. Both wore Hawaiian leis, and in the first image, they smiled as Lewis held up her hand to show off her engagement ring.

About a month later, Booker appeared on the I’ve Had It podcast, where he opened up about how ready he was to leave single life behind.
“I’ve had it with being single. 100%. Being single is not fun, especially when you’re trying to date,” he told hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan in mid-October. “And as a United States Senator, it’s been a difficult, challenging time. So I’ve had it with that, and I’m very psyched that I’m getting married.”
The Democratic lawmaker also shared that he and Lewis didn’t want a long engagement, saying, “We’re going to do it before the end of the year, quick.”
During the same conversation, Booker said that he and Lewis plan to have children together in the near future.
Before publicly sharing their relationship, Booker told Washington Examiner’s congress and campaigns editor David Sivak in August that he and Lewis had been together for “a year and a half” after being introduced through friends.
