A New Hampshire toddler is now in the care of relatives after surviving a tragic murder-suicide that claimed the lives of his parents and two siblings.

Authorities say Emily Long, 34, fatally shot her husband, Ryan Long, 48, along with their children, Parker, 8, and Ryan, 6, before taking her own life inside their home in Madbury, N.H., on Aug. 18, according to the state attorney general’s office.

The couple’s youngest child, a toddler, was found unharmed inside the home. Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati confirmed to WMUR that the child is now being cared for by family members.

Neighbors told the New Hampshire Union Leader that Ryan Long had been diagnosed with brain cancer prior to his death.

On her now-private TikTok account, Emily described herself as a “Brain Cancer Wife” and referred to her page as a “personal diary” she said was “cheaper than therapy.”

In her final video post, Emily admitted she had been struggling with depression, though she expressed a desire to improve her mental health for her family. “I’m making a point to get out of my depression and do this for my family,” she said.

Authorities have urged the public not to jump to conclusions about the motive.
“While investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor,” the attorney general’s office stated.
