The U.S. Secret Service has confirmed the addition of a new high-security golf cart to President Donald Trump’s protective fleet—an armored vehicle valued at nearly $200,000.
President Trump, 79, played two rounds of golf this past weekend while visiting Scotland for trade discussions with the European Union. On both Saturday and Sunday, he was seen golfing at Trump Turnberry, one of his signature courses. But it wasn’t just his game that drew attention.
During the weekend outings, the Secret Service debuted what is being called “Golf Force One,” a heavily modified golf cart built for ballistic protection. The vehicle made its first public appearance during a round with the president’s son, Eric Trump.
According to the White House, “Golf Force One” is now officially part of the presidential fleet of specialty vehicles. No specific details about the cart’s features were disclosed, but the vehicle is reportedly based on a Polaris Ranger XP 1000 UTV, customized by Scaletta Armor, a Chicago-based firm. The company’s armor kits—scalable depending on mission needs—can cost up to $190,000.
The enhanced security measure comes ten months after an assassination attempt targeting President Trump while he was playing golf in Florida. Since returning to office in January, President Trump has continued to golf regularly, prompting the development of additional protective measures for his leisure activities.
While critics may question the cost, the Secret Service insists the upgrade is a necessary precaution to ensure the president’s safety during recreational time.
