A British teenager has been arrested and charged with manslaughter after a 25-year-old woman died after falling from an apartment window last week.
Tia Langdon died at a local hospital last Thursday afternoon after falling from a window at an apartment building in Southampton, England, officials with the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said in a news release this week.
Authorities announced that an 18-year-old man from Southampton, Jaiden Hassan-Agard, has been charged with manslaughter, along with other serious offenses including making threats to kill, false imprisonment, and threatening someone with an offensive weapon in a private place.
Police said another woman was in the apartment with Langdon and Hassan-Agard at the time of Langdon’s death. Some of the charges Hassan-Agard faces are connected to his alleged actions involving this second woman. He is also accused of kidnapping her.
It is still unclear what led to Langdon’s death on August 28.
Hassan-Agard was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning after being taken into custody on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
The BBC reported that Hassan-Agard appeared at the Southampton Magistrates’ Court while floral tributes continued to appear on the street where Langdon fell.
The Metro UK reported that Langdon’s family shared their grief on social media.
“RIP to my big sister,” Langdon’s younger sister wrote in a post. “I love you forever and always. Thank you for always making me laugh. Every time you were around, you said you were proud of me, even for the littlest things. Thank you for being my big sister forever and always.”
