A woman says a work friend is really upset that she ate the last doughnut in the office, and now she’s asking the internet for advice about who is in the wrong.
She shared her story on the popular Reddit forum “Am I the A——”, where people ask for guidance on tricky social situations. The woman explained that she recently became friends with someone at work.
“She’s been great, and we call each other ‘work sisters,’ ” she wrote.
The woman said her company buys doughnuts from a local bakery every Friday. On the most recent doughnut day, she said a coworker she calls “Hubert” came to her desk and told her the doughnuts were “going quick.”
She said she and Hubert grabbed the last two doughnuts, just as her “work sister” arrived and asked why she hadn’t saved one for her. The friend also said Hubert had already eaten a doughnut that day.
The woman told her coworker she didn’t know Hubert had already eaten and that there were only two doughnuts left when she got there. Still, her friend gave her the “cold shoulder” for the rest of the day.
“I thought she was being ridiculous until a mutual friend sided with her and said I should have at least asked,” the woman wrote. She then asked, “Am I the a——?”

Most commenters on Reddit said the woman’s work friend had overreacted.
One person wrote, “NTA [not the a——]. You are not the donut police, and it’s not your job to check who already had a donut.”
Another said, “She sounds childish. It’s just a donut, and if she’s upset that Hubert ate hers, she should ask him, not take it out on you. Ridiculous behavior from your work sister.”
Someone else added, “NTA. Is your coworker a 5-year-old?”
After reading the comments, the woman added a follow-up.
“I want to thank everyone for the support,” she wrote. “I completely agree it’s childish. The only reason I second-guessed myself is because she had someone backing her up. I’m thinking I shouldn’t have done that.”
