A woman says she was stunned to learn that a close friend recently had a bachelorette party — and she wasn’t invited.

She shared her experience on the “Am I Being Unreasonable?” forum on the U.K.-based community site Mumsnet.com, explaining that she and the bride-to-be “have been good friends for about eight years.”

According to the post, the friend is planning a small, “family only” destination wedding later this year, which the original poster (OP) will not be attending.

The OP said she later came across photos on Instagram showing her friend’s bachelorette weekend — a trip that included “a large group,” some of whom she claimed her friend “doesn’t even like and has had nothing but bad things to say about.”

“This was the first I’d heard about it,” she wrote, adding that she was surprised not to be included. “I sort of can’t believe I’ve not been invited, especially when I have been there for her a lot over the years and thought we had a nice friendship.”

She then asked the community: “AIBU [am I being unreasonable]? Has anyone else been in this situation?”

Responses to the post were mixed. One commenter suggested that the party may not have been planned by the bride at all, writing, “Possibly the [weekend] was organized by another friend who genuinely didn’t think to invite you? Try not to dwell on it.”

Others encouraged the OP to rethink the friendship altogether. “When someone shows you who they are, listen,” one user advised. “If someone is talking about others to you, they’ll be talking about you to others. Take this as a lesson learned and step back from the friendship.”

Another commenter was more direct: “She sounds like a very unkind person. Have it out with her.”
