After a commenter compared her tummy tuck scars to a horror movie character, fitness influencer Natalia Aranda is opening up about her journey with the procedure — and why she has zero regrets.

In a candid video shared on July 14 via her Instagram account @loseitwithnat, where she documents her fitness and abdominoplasty experience, Aranda directly addressed a critical remark that labeled her stomach scars as “Frankenstein scars.”

The same commenter also questioned her decision to undergo the surgery — a “procedure to remove excess skin and fat from your abdomen,” which, according to Cleveland Clinic, “smooths and flattens your stomach.”

As shown in a screenshot included in her video, the full comment read: “Why tho going to the gym or simple work out is way less pain and definitely no Frankenstein scars.”

Aranda didn’t shy away from addressing it. Gesturing to a visible vertical scar running down her midsection, she explained, “So I have this big scar right here after my tummy tuck. At my heaviest, I carried a lot of my weight right here. Even when I was pregnant, my belly sat super high. So when I lost all the weight, I ended up with two pockets of loose skin.”

Following her 140-pound weight loss over the past two years, Aranda said that a typical tummy tuck likely wouldn’t have addressed her specific concerns.

“If I had gotten a ‘regular tummy tuck,’ there was a big chance I would still be left with hanging skin,” she explained. “I didn’t want that.”

After researching the procedure extensively — particularly among those with a “similar body type” to her own before surgery — she opted for a version of the tummy tuck that leaves a vertical scar.

“No tea, no shade,” Aranda added, “but I feel like the people who went with the vertical scar — they have curves, they look more snatched.”

She also shared why she’s chosen to be so open about her transformation, despite anticipating criticism like the “Frankenstein” jab. “I’m not sharing this to seek approval,” she said. “I’m sharing it to tell my story.”

“People say my scars are ugly, that I look like Frankenstein, all kinds of wild things — but I don’t care,” she said. “We all have flaws. None of us are going to look like the airbrushed magazine model. We’re real over here. We have real bodies.”

“And we love our bodies regardless. And my man is gonna love my body regardless — best believe that,” she added with a smile, before leaving followers with a powerful closing thought: “Remember, your body was not made to be accepted by society. Your body was made to take care of you. It is your forever home. So take care of it — and love on it. Love y’all.”

In the caption accompanying the post, Aranda included a heartfelt reminder that post-surgery results vary:

“Hi my loves 🩷🙌🏻 always remember we are all different and when it comes to removing loose skin after massive weight loss that will look different for all of us,” she wrote. “Scars are not ugly. We should not shame people for making the best decisions for themselves.”

She wrapped up her message with encouragement for others on similar paths: “Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for wanting to be comfortable in your own body.”
