A Michigan woman got an unforgettable birthday surprise this year.

Lillian Boegner of Sanilac County won $250,000 after playing the Twice as Spice online instant game, according to a Michigan Lottery press release shared Jan. 7.

“I was on MichiganLottery.com and saw the Twice as Spice game, so I deposited $50 and gave it a try,” Boegner said in comments shared by the Michigan Lottery.

“When $250,000 came up on the screen, I couldn’t believe it,” she added. “It was my 60th birthday, which made winning even more exciting!”

Boegner has since claimed her prize at Michigan Lottery headquarters. She said she plans to buy a car with part of her winnings and save the rest, according to the release.

Boegner isn’t the only Michigan player to land a major prize recently. A 30-year-old man from Oakland County, who asked to remain anonymous, won $1 million in the Super Raffle drawing held on Nov. 19, 2025, according to the Michigan Lottery.

“My brother told me about the Super Raffle game, so I asked him to buy me a ticket when he went and got one for himself — and I ended up getting lucky,” the man said in comments shared by the Michigan Lottery.

He said it took a moment for the news to feel real.

“When I saw my raffle ticket was a $1 million winner, I couldn’t believe it. I had to check it several times before it started to sink in that I really won,” he said.

All profits from the sale of Michigan Lottery tickets go to the state’s School Aid Fund, and the Michigan Lottery contributed more than $1 billion to the fund in fiscal year 2025, according to the Michigan Lottery’s website.
