Woman with Alopecia Says Not Wearing a Wig on Wedding Day Gave Her Confidence: ‘She’s a Bald Bride’

Dani G, a beauty content creator from Newcastle who was diagnosed with alopecia universalis at age 2, made a deeply personal decision for her wedding day: she walked down the aisle without a wig.

The 27-year-old shared moments from the celebration on social media, posting clips that included close-up shots of her doing her own makeup and footage of her posing in a striking white wedding gown. In a TikTok video posted in May, she celebrated the milestone with a caption that reflected just how meaningful the choice was to her.

“Your girl did it!!! She’s a bald bride,” Dani wrote. “It was a huge thing for me to decide to do no wig for any part of my wedding.”

She explained that her husband, Jack Willis, encouraged the idea because it reflected how they first connected. “My husband (hehe😏) really wanted me to go no wig as that is how we met and how he fell in love with me,” she said, adding that she hadn’t previously imagined herself as a “bald bride” until he brought it up. On the day itself, she said, the decision gave her a level of confidence she didn’t know she could feel.

Dani told SWNS that she and Jack met in 2018 at the gym, during a time when she was swimming regularly—meaning he saw her “without a wig and without a stitch of makeup on” from the beginning.

As wedding planning began, Dani said she considered different options, including wigs and dresses, and asked Jack what he thought. His response stayed consistent: he wanted to see the version of her he fell for from the start. “I’d love to marry you and see how I fell in love with you on that day,” he told her.

Jack, now 32, said he felt an immediate connection when they met and believed Dani was his “person.” He added that he wanted her to walk down the aisle without a wig because it echoed their first meeting. “I know she’s such a confident woman and know she just oozes positivity,” he said, calling her his best friend.

Dani emphasized that she never felt pressured. Ultimately, she said, she chose to go wigless both for Jack and for herself—proof that she could still feel incredible on such an important day.

Though she admitted she was nervous at first, she said the moment itself felt unforgettable. “I’m so happy that I did it on the day,” she said, adding that not having hair there made her feel like she could truly show her face—something she believes Jack has always loved most.

After sharing videos from their ceremony in Greece, Dani said messages from viewers dealing with hair loss meant a lot to her. She began posting makeup tutorials in 2017, and she’s been moved by the reaction from people who say her wedding clips gave them hope. “The hope that a single video can give to people is the best thing ever,” she said.
