A woman was shocked when a family member discovered her fiancé kissing her twin sister.

In a recent Reddit post, a 28-year-old woman shared that she and her 30-year-old fiancé had gone to her family’s lake house for a week-long family reunion in the middle of wedding planning.

“I’ve been super excited for this trip to have a much needed break from work and wedding planning and also to have a chance to see all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc,” she wrote.

But during the trip, her 22-year-old cousin pulled her aside to share “something completely unexpected.”

“She said she went upstairs to grab some clothes, and as she was walking down the hall she saw my twin sister and fiancé talking quietly in one of the bedrooms,” the woman explained. “Then she said she saw them share a quick kiss.”

“I am in shock,” she continued. “My twin sister and I have always been very close. My first thought was that there’s no way this happened. I have never seen or noticed any tension between my fiancé and sister, and they also don’t spend much time together.”

The woman explained that she and her fiancé live “about an hour” away from her sister and both have very busy work schedules.

“I cannot imagine that either of them would do this,” she wrote. “I’m also wondering what to believe of what my cousin told me. I have no reason not to trust her, but I just want to believe that she saw something wrong. Idk. A kiss is hard to mistake.”

While trying to process the information, she told her family she wasn’t feeling well due to “period cramps” and needed rest. She also asked her cousin to “keep this to herself” while she figured out her next steps.

In an edit to the post, the woman noted that she and her sister are “fraternal twins,” so there is “no chance we could be mistaken for one another.”

After thinking about what to do, she decided to confront her fiancé and sister, with her cousin there for support.

“I got the four of us together and laid it all out there. I told them that my cousin came across them talking in the upstairs bedroom and witnessed them kiss,” she wrote.

She said she “could see the guilt flood over [her] sister,” while her fiancé seemed like he “was trying to find a way to backtrack.”

Her sister began crying and “profusely apologizing,” and her fiancé insisted it was a “mistake and only one kiss.”

The woman then asked to check their phones, but her fiancé hesitated until she threatened to end their engagement.

“From what I could find, my sister started flirting with my fiancé, starting off with compliments. I don’t know if she was just stroking his ego, but their texts were very flirty in nature,” she wrote.

She added, “Up to this point, I am angry but unsure what this means for our relationship. Then I saw one of their last messages sent this morning from my fiancé saying ‘I know I should regret that, but I don’t.'”

She told her fiancé to pack his things and leave. While she hasn’t “technically called anything off,” she “can’t imagine going back to him after all of this.”

Meanwhile, she is “disgusted” with her sister and asked to be left alone.

“I feel sick. I don’t want to be anywhere near my sister, but I would rather stay here to have space from my fiancé,” she explained. “I think I haven’t truly processed this as I am seeing red. As mad as I am with my fiancé, I feel so betrayed by my sister who has been with me through so many ups and downs.”

In the comments, other Redditors assured her she made the right choice and encouraged her to cut ties with her fiancé — and maybe her sister — for good.
