A woman discovered that her fiancé made a disturbing comment to her best friend — and later tried to excuse it as a “joke.”
In a Reddit post, the 28-year-old explained that her 30-year-old fiancé told her best friend “that he could ‘probably cheat on me and I wouldn’t notice.’ “
She said it happened while they were out drinking together one night as she worked late. He brushed it off as “funny banter,” but her best friend was upset and told her right away.

“When I confronted him, he tried to spin it as a ‘joke,'” she wrote. “Now I can’t stop replaying every moment, every late night, every weird gut feeling.”
Her fiancé has been begging her to “lighten up” and swears he has never cheated, but she admits she still feels uneasy.
“How do you ‘joke’ about something like that to my best friend of all people?” she asked.
Commenters on Reddit strongly sided with her. Many said his words were not just banter but outright disrespect. Some even suggested he might have been “testing the waters” with her best friend.
One person wrote, “He wanted to try to sleep with your best friend. That is what that means.” Another agreed, saying, “He was 100% trying to get with your best friend and she was an absolute green flag on how she handled it. You need to drop that loser of a boyfriend ASAP.”
