1000-Lb. Sisters’ Tammy Slaton Shows Off Figure in Shapewear, Is Barely Recognizable After Weight Loss, Skin Removal Surgery

Tammy Slaton is embracing her transformation.

On Sunday, July 21, the 1000-Lb. Sisters star gave fans a glimpse of her ongoing weight-loss journey in a series of TikTok photos. In one snap, the 38-year-old poses confidently in black shapewear. Another shows her flashing a peace sign in a yellow tank top and jeans.

Slaton’s followers flooded the comments with support and admiration for her remarkable progress.

“Brought a tear to my eye,” one person wrote. “It’s been honestly so inspiring and amazing to watch your journey. Never been more prouder of a stranger in my life! Well done Tammy 👏”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, writing, “Tammy you look absolutely amazing 🥹🥹 honestly so proud of you 👏👏👏❤️”

Last month, Slaton spoke to PEOPLE about the emotional experience of being approved for skin removal surgery — a milestone that came after years of hard work.

“After six years and losing over 500 pounds, I was finally approved for surgery,” she told PEOPLE. “I was just overwhelmed with excitement. I worked really hard for this, and now it’s here. I’m pretty sure it was noticeable on my face how immediately shocked and then overwhelmed with joy I was.”

Earlier this year, Slaton — who underwent bariatric surgery in July 2022 — traveled to Pittsburgh to undergo the procedure with plastic surgeon Dr. J. Peter Rubin at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Although she had prepared for this moment for years, Slaton admitted the nerves kicked in just before the operation. “I was really nervous for the skin removal surgery because I was really just kind of afraid of how I’m gonna feel looking at myself without the belly there,” she said.

“The night before my surgery, I was, like, seriously freaking terrified. I was even more nervous about having skin removal surgery than I was for the [sleeve gastrectomy] surgery because they’re actually cutting the whole belly!”

Slaton underwent the procedure on January 18. During the 8-hour surgery, doctors removed “over 15 lbs.” of excess skin from her chin, arms, and lower stomach.

She recovered ahead of schedule and returned home to a warm welcome from her siblings Amy, Amanda, Misty, and Chris. “I surprised the doctors with how well my body was healing. I ended up coming home from Pittsburgh, like, four days early,” she said.

The entire experience was featured on 1000-Lb. Sisters, culminating in an emotional season finale where her family expressed their awe and pride.

“Oh my God, she looks great,” Misty said during the episode. “When she started, she weighed 730 lbs. and we couldn’t even get her to walk to the mailbox. Now she’s lost 500 lbs. I mean, that’s a couple people, not just one person! I am so proud of her it’s just unreal.”
