A 4-year-old boy has died after being hit by a bus outside a hospital in Kent, England.
The child, identified locally as Zaahir Jan, was reportedly leaving the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate after visiting his grandmother when the collision occurred around 4 p.m. local time on Thursday, Aug. 7, according to BBC, The Telegraph, and Kent Live.
Kent Police said a white single-decker bus was traveling near the entrance to the hospital’s A&E department when it struck the boy.
“It is reported that the pedestrian, a four-year-old boy, left the hospital on foot and a collision took place,” police said in a statement, per The Telegraph. “The child was taken inside the hospital, and a short while later was sadly confirmed deceased.”

On a GoFundMe page created to help cover funeral expenses, Zaahir’s mother, Azaria Green, described her son as a “funny boy with a cheeky smile” who could “make anyone’s heart full.”
“I can’t believe you are gone from me. I can’t believe they couldn’t save you, I can’t believe this happened. I didn’t even get to tell you how much I love you,” she wrote.
