Search and recovery operations remain active in Central Texas as communities grapple with the aftermath of severe flooding and continue to honor those still missing.
According to WFAA, at least three people are still unaccounted for. A memorial was recently held in Marble Falls for Michael Phillips, the volunteer fire department chief, as crews persist in their efforts to recover his body.
The individuals still missing include 8-year-old Cile Steward, Jeff Ramsey, and Michael Phillips. KVUE reports that Steward is the last camper missing from Camp Mystic. Ramsey, from Lewisville, was reported missing by his family on Tuesday. His brother-in-law, Eric Steele, expressed the family’s confusion and distress: “He hasn’t been found yet… I don’t understand how there’s one or two or even three. I mean there’s definitely more than that.”
Ramsey had alerted his family to the rising floodwaters while he and his wife, Tanya, were staying in a cabin near the Guadalupe River. Tanya’s body was recovered days later, but the search for Jeff continues.
Claire Traweek Ramsey, Jeff’s ex-wife, told WFAA, “It’s just terrible for my children… the not knowing. We are a family of faith and we have prayed and prayed and prayed.” Regardless of whether Jeff is found, the family plans to hold a memorial for both him and Tanya next week.
She added, “We want people still looking for him. He’s still missing. We want them looking. We want them to know that he’s still missing.” The family has created a GoFundMe to assist with travel, funeral, and related expenses for Ramsey’s adult children.
The Joint Information Center in Kerrville confirmed to WFAA that Cile Steward and Jeff Ramsey remain missing, along with Michael Phillips in Burnet County.
