Police are looking for two people accused of stealing at least four vehicles during a dramatic chase through downtown Los Angeles.

The incident began on Sunday, Aug. 10, when officers responded to a report of a carjacking at gunpoint in Lancaster. According to Fox 11 and NBC4 Los Angeles, the suspects allegedly stole a pickup truck and sped away, leading police on a chase down the 5 Freeway near Sylmar.

The LAPD posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the California Highway Patrol was in an active pursuit through downtown Los Angeles and warned the public to be cautious. The post said the suspects were driving a white semi-truck with a trailer and were “armed and dangerous.”

At one point, the suspects ditched the semi-truck under the 10 Freeway near Alameda Street and tried to break into other vehicles. Live TV footage showed them driving on the wrong side of the freeway and eventually stealing another semi-truck to continue the chase.

Around 11:30 p.m., the pair abandoned the big rig and stole a white pickup truck, heading toward Boyle Heights. During the hour-long chase, they sped through several neighborhoods, including Santa Clarita, Hollywood, Echo Park, and Westlake.

Police say the suspects later stole a fourth vehicle—a black sedan—in Lincoln Heights before losing officers in traffic.

By late Sunday night, the suspects were still on the run. The LAPD confirmed the search was ongoing but has not released further details.
